Welcome to Child Nutrition!

The mission of the Jones County School District Food Service Department is to plan, implement and supervise all the phases of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs for the students of Jones County.

Our goal is to ensure a smooth and efficient operation of each school cafeteria for ultimate health, comfort, and benefit for each student.

ALLERGY ALERT: In order to make changes or substitute meal components, the Cafeteria Manager & School Nurse must have a copy of Doctor's Order.

Good nutrition and learning go hand in hand.

The Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.

Meals, food and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.

The Jones County School District will be participating in the USDA’s National School Lunch Program “Seamless Summer Option (SSO)” for duration of the 2021-2022 school year. This program, while typically only available during the summer months, will continue to extend free meals to all students during the 2021-2022 school year. According the USDA, this option maintains the nutrition standards of the standard school meal programs – including a strong emphasis on providing fruits and vegetables, milk, whole grains and sensible calorie levels. This options also provides flexibility for schools to further customize their meal service design to fit their local needs.

Nutrition is a cornerstone of learning and the Jones County School District is proud to participate in this program to ensure the nutritional needs of every child are fulfilled; enabling our student to attain their greatest potential.
